The Green Classroom

Farm & Learning Centre

A working farm where children, families and groups come to learn about food, animals, people and looking after the planet.

Mark

Learning by doing, outdoors and on the farm. Plant it, grow it, feed it, cook it.

The Green Classroom is a farm and learning centre. Visitors get their hands dirty in the vegetable beds, help care for the animals and cook with the food they have grown. Every visit is built around the four things in our logo, and every activity can be adapted for children with special educational needs.

Food

Seasonal vegetables, hydroponics, an ancient orchard and farm-to-fork cooking. Learn where food really comes from, from seed to plate.

Animals

Ponies, sheep, goats, alpacas and chickens. Help feed and care for them, collect the eggs and learn what each animal needs to be healthy and happy.

People

A place for everyone: schools, families, community groups and children with special educational needs, learning through calm, practical, hands-on activities.

A Greener Future

Bees and pollinators, composting and organic growing. Simple ways to look after the land, carrying on the farm’s long organic heritage.

School and group visits

Our sessions are hands-on and outdoors, whatever the weather. Each visit can be shaped around your class or group and what you are learning about.

  • Day visits for primary and secondary schools
  • Sessions for SEND and alternative provision groups
  • Home education groups
  • Community, youth and adult groups
